If America moved to a coalition type voting system, how would that wok?

Coalition is a way of government not a voting system. Coalition is the joining of two parties to share government. However one part of the coalition is usually the dominant one with the most power. The weaker party is usually their more on an advisory role and there to appease the voters after one party fails to get a working majority.
