Metaphorically speaking, if I was to kidnap someone...?

and keep them locked in my van for 5 days straight with no food or water, would they still be alive, metaphorically speaking? And if they would be dead, should I drive the van into a lake, metaphorically speaking? Serious answers please. This question is serious.... Metaphorically speaking.
