Honey chicken stir fry?

I'm making honey chicken stir fry later on this evening. Instead of making the sauce from scratch, I'm using a packet. But is there a way I could marinate the chicken strips in something before I put them in the wok? Because the sauce says you have to mix in sugar, water, and soy sauce but is there something else I could marinate the chicken in before I put it in the wok? Thank you .
